Remember seeing
ads like these?

The magazine pages. The familiar boxes. The brand names that stayed with you.

These historical ads appear in the master complaint. If a product looks familiar, you can start with what you remember—you don’t need an old box or receipt to contact us.

Dark & Lovely · African Pride · Crème of Nature · Just for Me · ORS Olive Oil · Mizani

The claims concern certain relaxer and texturizer products—not every product sold under a brand.

WHERE THE LITIGATION STANDS

A shared legal process.
Many individual stories.

Thousands of individual claims are being coordinated in federal multidistrict litigation, known as MDL 3060, in the Northern District of Illinois before Judge Mary M. Rowland.

Plaintiffs allege that chemical hair relaxers caused cancer and other injuries and that companies failed to provide adequate warnings. These allegations remain contested; a listed product is not a finding that it caused an injury.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Questions you may have.

How much could my claim be worth?+

Mass tort cases are evaluated individually, even when they share a court process. If a group settlement is reached, its terms may use a points system or categories to allocate money among eligible claims. Other claims may resolve separately. There is no automatic equal payment or guaranteed recovery.

Potential value can depend on the diagnosis and its severity, treatment and future care, medical bills, lost income, effects on daily life, and evidence connecting product use to the injury. Settlement terms and legal defenses also matter. Attorney fees, case costs, and any applicable medical liens affect the amount a client ultimately receives.

Think of homes damaged in the same storm: the event is shared, but each home’s damage and supporting records differ. A shared legal process likewise does not make every claim worth the same amount. We cannot responsibly quote a dollar figure from a short form.

You don’t need every answer before reaching out. Getting started gives us time to check your deadlines and help you preserve records that could support your claim. Contacting us sooner doesn’t guarantee a larger recovery, and filling out this form doesn’t pause any legal deadlines. Start with a free case review ↗

Which brands and companies are named?+

The court’s short-form complaint lists products including Dark & Lovely, Mizani, Optimum, African Pride, Just for Me, Crème of Nature, ORS Olive Oil, Motions, Dr. Miracle’s, Affirm, Design Essentials, Hawaiian Silky, Africa’s Best, Luster’s Pink, and others.

Named companies include L’Oréal, SoftSheen-Carson, Revlon, Strength of Nature, Godrej SON Holdings, Namaste Laboratories, and others. Product, manufacturer, and time period matter when reviewing an individual claim.

What diagnoses are part of the claims?+

The short-form complaint specifically lists uterine, endometrial, and ovarian cancer, plus an option for other injuries. A diagnosis alone does not establish eligibility or causation. Our team would need to review your individual circumstances. You can leave the diagnosis question blank and discuss it privately with us.

Do I need receipts or medical records to start?+

No documents are needed to send this initial inquiry. Start with what you remember. If further review is appropriate, our team can explain which information may be needed next.

What if I already have a lawyer or just want an update?+
